The board of governors of SOULS hosted an Iftaar Fundraising Dinner on 1st April in Chicago, attended by a large number of people. Prof. Saeed Akhter, President PKI have a presentation and informed the audience about one year progress of PKI and also future plans.

Fazaia Surgical Society (FSS) organized an event on Organ Donation & Transplant Surgery at Fazaia Medical College, Air University Islamabad on March 22, 2023. Prof. Saeed Akhter, President PKI & Chairman Department of Urology & Transplant Surgery was chief guest and keynote speaker. Principle & Dean of Fazaia Medical College received Prof. Saeed Akhter & PKI Team. Large number of Medical students attended the session. Prof. Saeed Akhter explained the need of organ donation in Pakistan, level of awareness and ethical issues related to organ donation especially kidney donation and the willingness to donate a kidney or other type of organs in Pakistan. He added that Donation of organs is an imperative component of transplantation. One of the major issues contributing to the scarcity of organs is because of public attributes such as myths, religious misconceptions, and misunderstood decrees. Later on, Prof. Saeed Akhter awarded appreciation certificates to Volunteers of Fazaia Surgical Society who participated in PKI Flood Relief Drive 2022. Prof. Saeed Akhter also visited different sections of Fazaia Medical College and appreciated the facilities offered by FMC to its students.
March 23, 2023 Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhter awarded with Sitara-e-Imtiaz from President Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in recognition of his services in the field of Urology, Transplant Surgery & for establishing Pakistan Kidney Institute for poor patients in Pakistan.
PKI celebrated World Kidney Day 2023 to create awareness regarding kidney diseases and its prevention. Keynote Speaker was Prof. Saeed Akhter, Chairman Department of Urology & Transplant Surgery. Dr. Muhammad Zahid Consultant Nephrologist and Dr. Nabeel, Peads Urologist at PAF Hospital Islamabad were also amongst the speakers of the event.
Meeting was chaired by Prof. Saeed Akhter, President PKI. Attended by Dr. Syed Nayer Mahmud, Vice President PKI, Dr. Muhammad Imran Jamil CEO PKI, Dr. Durre Shohab, Secretary PKI, BOG Members, Dr. Masooma Saeed, Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal and Dr. Munir A. Malik. Mr. Hafeez Pasha attended the meeting via Zoom. Prof. Saeed Akhter projected a presentation. He discussed PKI ongoing activities on humanitarian forefronts. He presented PKI’s last year activity record including PKI patient data, Flood relief work in Pakistan, Turkiye/Syria earthquake relief drive, and upcoming Ramadan fundraising activity plan. BOG members unanimously approved the previous BOG meeting minutes and acknowledged the work done by PKI for this noble cause.
