Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Screening Pilot project continues in Gilgit-Baltistan, as Free screening done at Govt Girls Degree College, Chilas, GB. Pilot Project was started on Feb 18 and will continued till Feb 28, 2025.
Today marks a truly special and transformative moment in my journey as the President of PKI and Chairman of the Board of Governors at PKLI. After nearly 9 years of relentless effort, perseverance, and unwavering faith in the mission, I am honoured and elated to announce the successful launch of the pilot phase of the Prime Minister’s National Hepatitis C Elimination Program in Gilgit Baltistan.

The Pakistan Kidney Institute, Department of Urology and Transplant Surgery PAF hospital in collaboration with the PAUS Rawalpindi / Islamabad Chapter organized a highly anticipated Pre-Conference Workshop on Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) the Annual Urocon 2024. The event took place at PGMI Conference Hall PAF Hospital Unit-II Islamabad On December 12, 2024, gathering renowned urologists and medical professionals from Pakistan & abroad.
An important event focusing on the Hepatitis Elimination & Prevention in Pakistan, aligned with the Prime Minister's Hepatitis Elimination Program, was organized on December 10, 2024, at PAF Hospital, Islamabad. The event was hosted by Prof. Saeed Akhter, President of the Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI), Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), and a Member of the PM’s Task Force on Hepatitis Elimination Program. The event was held in collaboration with Fazaia Post Graduate Medical Institute, with the aim of fostering national efforts toward the elimination and prevention of hepatitis in the country.
Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI) Successfully Conducts 8th Free Urology and Medical Camp in Skardu. The Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI), in collaboration with the Marafi Foundation, successfully organized its 8th Free Urology and Medical Camp in Skardu from August 18 to August 25, 2024. The initiative underscored PKI’s commitment to providing essential healthcare services to underserved communities. Under the leadership of Prof. Saeed Akhter, President of PKI and Consultant Urologist & Transplant Surgeon, the camp was staffed by a distinguished team of experts including Dr. Masooma Saeed, Consultant Anesthesiologist, Dr. Ijaz Hussain, Consultant Paediatric Urologist; Dr. Assad Ur Rehman, Consultant Urologist; and Dr. Abdul Rahim, Consultant Urologist. Over the course of the seven-day camp, a total of 335 patients received treatment in the outpatient department (OPD) for a range of urological conditions. Additionally, 85 surgical procedures were performed, addressing complex and urgent urological needs. The success of this camp highlights PKI’s ongoing dedication to improving urological health and providing critical medical services to those in need, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The Pakistan Kidney Institute in collaboration with Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons (PAUS) Rawalpindi Islamabad Chapter and RAHMA Foundation hosted a symposium on "Trans Perineal Prostate Biopsy under Local Anaesthesia - The Way Forward" on May 25th, 2024 at PAF Hospital Islamabad. Dr. Manahil Tahir served as presenter, who introduced the Symposium agenda and speakers.
