Institute of Kidney diseases (IKD) Peshawar is a premier urology and transplant institute, where kidney transplant program was closed for last two years.
Alhamdolillah Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI) led by Prof Saeed Akhter and his team has signed a MOU with IKD to restart their Transplant Program at IKD and build their systems to enable them. This is the only public sector transplant program in the whole province. Alhamdolillah PKI team performed its first kidney transplant at IKD on 6/6/2022, assisted by IKD team. Both donor and recipient are doing great with immediate graft function Alhamdolillah.
First Kidney Transplant in IKD under supervision of PKI team is planned on June 06, 2022.
PKI Team visited Institute of Kidney Diseases Peshawar on May 29, 2022 and looked over the final preparations of first Kidney Transplant in IKD. PKI had agreed to develop Kidney Transplant Program at IKD Peshawar on previous visit dated February 26, 2022.

Pakistan Kidney celebrated World Kidney day at PAF hospital , Islamabad. This prestigious ceremony was attended by large number of people from different segments of society. Purpose was to create awareness regarding prevention and treatment of kidney diseases. Dr Imran Jamil, Dr Durre Shohab and Dr Ayesha highlighted different aspects of kidney diseases. Famous Journalist Mr Amir Illyas Rana shared his experience of treatment at PAF hospital by PKI team. Air comodore Raja Viqar Ali, Executive director PAF hospital , appreciated the effort by PKI and hospital management and ensured his continous support. This activity was highly appreciated by general public.
